Advocacy and Position Statements

The Kentucky Horse Council creates statements of advocacy for issues which may impact Kentucky horses, horse owners, horseback riders, and horse enthusiasts.  The advocacy statements are educational in nature and provide information about background facts, possible changes, and opportunities.  Advocacy statements are shared with Kentucky legislators, equine industry leaders, and KHC members.

The Process

Recommendations to support legislative action are proposed to the KHC board by standing committees.  Only after the KHC board votes to approve support of legislative action can statements of support be made.  Once KHC makes a statement of support letters are written to appropriate legislators and notices are sent electronically to KHC members and key industry leaders.
