The Kentucky Horse Council provides Livestock Investigation Training to Animal Control Officers, Sheriffs, and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors throughout the commonwealth.
The Level I class is three days in length and includes extensive hands-on horse activities.
Day one includes training on horse behavior, safety, and basic equine knowledge. The first day of training is optional for those with prior horse experience, but recommended for all. Day two and three are required for course completion certificates and include constitutional and Kentucky law, the investigation process, body condition scoring, basic veterinary care, and guidelines for re-feeding the starving horse.
This course has been approved by the Kentucky Animal Control Advisory Board and by the Department of Criminal Justice Training.
