This is a free seminar by Clay Corbet, (the responder that will be called to track you and bring you safely back to the trail head) on the basics in map reading and how to use a compass. Great for anyone who uses the back country and does not want to get lost!

Livestock Investigation Training - Level I

Location: Asbury University Equine Center, Wilmore, KY
Event Details:

The Kentucky Horse Council in partnership with the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association offers Livestock Investigation Training. The course is low cost and open to Animal Control Officers, Sheriffs, and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors.

This training is approved by the Kentucky Animal Care and Control Advisory Board. In addition Peace Officers may receive continuing education credits through the Department of Criminal Justice Training for successful completion of the course.

The three day class includes hands-on horse learning and training by the Kentucky Horse Council and an expert in Kentucky Animal Abuse Statutes. In addition information on body condition scoring and handling cattle and goats will be provided. Professionals from the University are also scheduled to provide instruction on re-feeding the starved horse, and veterinary care.

Kentucky Officials:

$100 (all three days) or $75 (two days: days 2 and 3 only)

Non-Kentucky Officials:

$250 (all three days) or $200 (two days; days 2 and 3 only)

Eastern Kentucky University is offering large-animal emergency rescue training. Aimed at fire/rescue personnel, first responders, veterinarians and horse enthusiasts, the training covers techniques and procedures to assist large animals involved in transportation accidents and other emergencies. It also covers the use of sedatives and tranquilizers, chemical restraint, rescue ropes and knots, rescue from horse barn fires, mud rescue, helicopter rescue and water rescue, among other situations.

The Kentucky Horse Council, in partnership with the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association offers Level II Livestock Investigation Training. The training is a continuation of the KHC Level I Livestock Investigation Training. The course is low cost and open to Animal Control Officers, Sheriffs, and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors who previously attended a Kentucky Horse Council Level I training*.

This course is approved by the KY Animal Control Advisory Board and, through the Department of Criminal Justice Training, attending peace officers are eligible for continuing education units.

Kentucky Officials:

$100 (all three days) or $75 (two days: days 2 and 3 only)

Non-Kentucky Officials:

$250 (all three days) or $200 (two days; days 2 and 3 only)

The class is limited to 25 participants and we anticipate that the training will fill rapidly. Registration forms may be submitted with a purchase order to hold your seat for the training.
