On October 6, 2011, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture announce the addition of equine livestock to the Kentucky Proud program. The Kentucky Horse Council worked with KEEP on the establishment of this new program, and we believe this will be one more tool in the equine farm's toolbox to help market and sell our Kentucky-born horses. Below are the steps you can follow to register your farm as Kentucky Proud: Print out and fill out the Kentucky Proud Equine form. UNDER CONSTRUCTION Camargo, Dr. Fernanda College Representative Served 2010 Fernanda C. Camargo, DMV, Ph.D., equine extension professor at the University of Kentucky, came by her affection for horses naturally while growing up in Brazil. Her great-grandfather was one of the breeding pioneers of the Brazilian horse breed Mangalarga in the early 1900s, and her grandfather raised and raced Thoroughbreds in Brazil for more than 50 years. After receiving her veterinary medicine degree from the State University of Londrina, Brazil, Dr. Camargo followed her passion for horses to Lexington in 2001.
