Advocacy Statements

The Kentucky Horse Council is committed to supporting healthy horses throughout the commonwealth.  Through online resources and classroom training KHC offers an information resource for owners and horse interested individuals.  In addition KHC trains law enforcement and animal control officers to investigate equine neglect, provides incentives for responsible owners to castrate stallions and colts, and feeds horses whose owners have experienced a job loss.

From providing education and resources for individual horse owners to teaching animal control and law enforcement officials how to investigate equine neglect and abuse, KHC promotes the health and welfare of Kentucky Horses. Funding for KHC health and welfare programs is provided in part by the SoHo (Save Our Horses) Fund.

For information on equine carcass disposal, infectious disease, and inter and intra-state transportation documents visit the office of the State Veterinarian (http://www.kyagr.com/statevet/equine/).
