
Training Programs
The Kentucky Horse Council provides Livestock Investigation Training to Animal Control Officers, sheriffs, and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors throughout the Commonwealth. The charity also hosts a Large Animal Emergency Rescue training, which teaches emergency responders, veterinary professionals, animal control officers, horse industry professionals and others on how to work together to care for and extract equines in potentially hazardous situations while remaining safe.

Livestock Investigation Training
The Kentucky Horse Council provides Livestock Investigation Training to animal control officers, sheriffs, judge executives and other Kentucky law enforcement officials and prosecutors throughout the Commonwealth, as well as to veterinarians and veterinary technicians employed by the state.
A three-day, hands-on class is offered in Lexington once per year; LIT "In A Box" occurs throughout the state multiple times per year.

Large Animal Emergency Rescue
The Kentucky Horse Council hosts a Large Animal Emergency Rescue Training course each fall. This three-day training is designed to educate emergency responders, veterinary professionals, animal control officers, horse industry professionals and other interested parties on how to care for and extract equines in potentially hazardous situations while remaining safe.
LAER is taught by Justin and Tori McLeod of 4Hooves Large Animal Services, LLC, a North Carolina-based company that specializes in large animal technical rescue emergency response and training for emergency responders and veterinary professionals.

There are two options for participation: auditing and hands-on. The hands-on option is limited to 40 attendees.

How Horse Owners Can Assist Their Equines Before Emergency Response Arrives
The first few minutes in any emergency are critical, and horse owners are often at a loss in knowing what to do before a veterinarian and emergency response teams arrive.
To help horse and farm owners, trainers and farm managers prepare for the unthinkable, the Kentucky Horse Council is proud to announce a new Large Animal Emergency Rescue Training session focused on equipping them with skills to safely manage high-stakes situations before help arrives.
This class will be taught by Tori McLeod of 4Hooves Large Animal Services, LLC, a North Carolina-based company that specializes in large animal technical rescue emergency response and training for emergency responders and veterinary professionals. This class will include in-classroom and equine model demonstrations.

Dinner will be included. Cost is $75 per person.
