The Office of the State Veterinarian has confirmed that a 2-year-old Arabian horse in Boyle County was diagnosed with West Nile Virus on July 29, 2025. The diagnosis is based on compatible clinical symptoms with WNv specific IgM antibody detected.
On July 26, the horse presented with down 'dog sitting', struggled to rise, and rear limb ataxia, and was euthanized. The horse had no West Nile Virus vaccination history.
