Kentucky West Nile Virus Update 9/25/25

2 Equine Confirmed on September 25, 2025, as affected with West Nile Virus in KY. 


These make the 12th and 13th equine confirmed West Nile cases in 2025.The Department of Agriculture’s Equine West Nile page is being updated to include these two most recent cases and the summary information is being posted to the Equine Disease Communication Center.


In BOYLE County a  3yr ARABIAN female - Euthanized

Onset Date:    09/19/25         

Rear limb ataxia, became recumbent and unable to rise, euthanized

Vaccination:  No WNV vaccination history.


In HOPKINS County a  6 YR BELGIAN female  - ALIVE

Onset Date:    09/18/25         

Owner advised the mare wasn't acting right;

Presented 9/19 showing neurologic abnormality - Ataxia

9/24 Status thought to be alive but unconfirmed

Vaccination:  No WNV vaccination history.
